Quartz Crushing Details, Silica sand granularity
All the countries in the world do not have the same requirement for silica sand granularity. Generally speaking, the best silica sand grain size ranges from 0.1mm~0.5mm. The silica sand grains who are larger than 0.5mm or smaller than 0.1mm do not account for more than 5% among the entire final product. Coarse silica sand is difficult to be melt, while silica sand too fine is particularly susceptible to mass, affecting the glass quality.
Quartz crushing process for silica sand production plant
At present, dry crushing process is the principle method for most silica sand plant. The traditional quartz processing is to make quartz ore loose by calcinations, and then reduce the quartz materials into particles less than 1mm in size with jaw crusher and cage crusher.
However, since this method consumes too much fuel, many glass plants use jaw crusher and cone crusher instead to complete respectively the primary crushing and secondary crushing processes. After, you will need the vertical shaft impact crusher for further crushing and shaping. The screening process takes place after each crushing to separate quartz product. The particles of required size are passed by belt conveyor to next process, while the coarse ones return to quartz crusher for further crushing. The granularity of silica sand we can produce is 6~8 meshes, 8~12 meshes… until 70~140 meshes, 200 meshes, 325 meshes.
